Creativity/Tech Tips: This is a large format portrait. The flowers and background foliage are rendered light in tonality because they are yellow. I used a black panty hose stocking over the lens to create a "soft" feel. You can vary the degree of softness by flexing the stocking in amounts of stretch. You can soften an image at the time of exposure or in the darkroom...but remember: if you soften at the time of the exposure, the highlights will bleed into the shadows, whereas in the darkroom, the the shadows bleed into the highlights. Two very different effects.
